ABOUT US

In 2019, Marcus and Hector Limon founded the Ground-Up baseball facility in Lubbock, Tx. At Ground-Up we believe in a full body approach to hitting, throwing, and pitching in order to optimize an athletes physical abilities on the diamond.
We are fully bought into helping players find, develop, and polish their swing, throw, or pitching mechanics. Having instructors who have played, and coached
at multiple levels gives us a wide array of approaches to service a multitude of athletic abilities. We don't believe in a conventional approach, but will implement the broader
components of kinetics into baseball bio-mechanics.

MARCUS LIMON

Founder and Instructor

Marcus' life long passion for baseball and coaching has been the driving force behind his decision to open the Ground-Up baseball facility.

His love and commitment to the game of baseball would ultimately earn him a scholarship to the University of Texas Arlington as a two way player, ss/pitcher where he closed for the Mavericks as a Freshman. During his Sophomore year, Marcus decided to  transfer to Wayland Baptist University on a full scholarship to play on the Pioneer Baseball team as a shortstop, where he would ultimately close and evolve into a starter for the Pioneers.

While attending Wayland Baptist University, Marcus signed a  contract in 2011 with the Minesota Twins. Marcus was stationed in Ft. Meyers, Florida to play for the GCL Twins where he played under the now Cincinnati Reds AA manager Ramon Borrego before moving up to Elizabethton to play for the E town Twins under the now Minnesota Twins assistant hitting coach, Rudy Hernandez. Limon also played alongside names like Miguel Sano, Eddie Rosario, Max Kepler, and Jorge Polanco throughout his Twins career.

After a short stint with the Twins, Marcus signed with the Amarillo Sox in 2012.  While there he provided youth camps and clinics both in volunteer and professional capacities.  He also served as a consultant and trainer to multiple teams and organizations.

Limon returned to Wayland Baptist University and graduated with his Bachelors in Education/Exercise Sports Science along with a Minor in Coaching in 2014.

Since then, Marcus has spent the past 6 years teaching and coaching in the metroplex and West Texas area at primary, intermediate, and secondary schools. In 2019, Marcus took a coaching position at Frenship I.S.D. where he is currently employed.

HECTOR LIMON

Co-Founder and Instructor

Hector Limon, along with his son Marcus, founded the Ground-Up baseball facility.

Hector has a coaching career that spans more than 30 years at the high school level and now serves as the hitting coach at Lubbock Christian University where he played college baseball from 1983-1986.

While at LCU, Hector played in 222 games, batting .373 with 63 doubles, 36 home runs and 197 RBI.  Four of his home runs as a chap were of the grand slam variety, which at his time of graduation was tied for the LCU record. This ultimately led to him being inducted into the LCU Athletics Hall of Honor in 1998.

After graduation, Hector turned his love for baseball into a long and successful career coaching high school baseball and softball.  While coaching at Estacado High School, Limon led the Matadors to win six district championships and one appearance in the state tournament in 2010.  Hector was honored with the district Coach of the Year six times during his Tenure.

In 2019, Hector returned to his Alma Mater and is now the LCU hitting coach.
